Inspiration

The idea behind Let’s Pretend draws on theatre, performance and the roles we choose to play. Etat Libre d’Orange compares fragrance to a costume worn before stepping onto a stage: something that can help us inhabit another role while also revealing a different aspect of ourselves. Its name reflects the idea of life as a stage on which pretending and self-discovery can exist side by side.

Fragrance Development

The opening combines the freshness of mandarin with the sharper accent of pink pepper and the warmth of saffron. Together, they create a lively contrast with the richer fruit character that follows.

Peach becomes the defining note at the heart of the fragrance. Osmanthus absolute introduces apricot-like and subtly leathery nuances, while jasmine sambac absolute adds a floral layer. The result is a peach accord with greater depth and texture rather than a straightforwardly sweet fruit profile.

The base moves towards woods and resins. Cedar, Akigalawood and Georgywood form the woody accord, while styrax and benzoin add warmer, resinous nuances to the drydown.

How to Use

Spray a small amount of the fragrance onto clean, dry and healthy skin. Apply it to the wrists, neck or other preferred areas of the body. Hold the bottle a short distance from the skin and allow the fragrance to dry naturally. Begin with a small amount and reapply when needed.

Do not apply to the face, near the eyes, on mucous membranes, or on irritated or damaged skin. If the product enters the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.
